About Us....

Hello everybody, and welcome to Northlake Veterinary Hospital’s website.  My name is Dr. Jay Stinson, and I am the owner of Northlake Veterinary Hospital.

I’m originally from Parrish, Florida so I’ve been in South Florida my entire life.  I graduated from Palmetto High School, and attended college at the University of Florida.  I received my Animal Science Degree in 1999, and my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2003, both from the University of Florida.

In 2003, I moved to Okeechobee, Florida to begin my career.  I first started practicing veterinary medicine at the Okeechobee Veterinary Hospital.  I practiced there until the summer of 2014.  That summer, I felt led to branch out on my own.  On December 12, 2014, I opened Northlake Veterinary Hospital.

I enjoy all facets of veterinary medicine but I have special interest in orthopedic surgery and internal medicine.  I enjoy trying to figure out the difficult cases and there is nothing more rewarding than successfully treating an animal that would have otherwise perished.

Seeing an owner and their pet re-united after a period of sickness or injury is a very special/satisfying experience.  With that said, I feel preventative medicine is the most important aspect of veterinary medicine.  So many sick pets and emergencies can be prevented with proper vaccination, timely spay/neuter, nutrition, and monthly heartworm, flea/tick prevention.

When I’m not working at Northlake Veterinary Hospital, I enjoy spending time with my wife, two sons, and daughter.  We enjoy fishing, camping, riding horses, and hanging out with friends & family. We have 2-dogs, 2-cats, 2-goats, and a horse. Most of all, we enjoy being outdoors creating memories.

Starting a new practice has been an exciting challenge and I look forward to the future.

Thank you all for your support!
